In 2018 I started researching local artisans who could teach me and in 2019 made my first contact with local artisans.
- following a full course in filigree, I worked within the master artisan workshop. in 2024 started a course in MCAST were I covered basics in Jewellery making and consolidated and built more on my knowledge.
- I am a registered as a Maltese artisan.
- In 2023 I started creating bespoke, memorial and fingerprint jewellery.
- Today welcoming customers to my workshop for jewellery-making experiences.
Why I Became a Jewellery Artisan
Jewellery has always fascinated me because it carries far more than beauty—it carries memories, emotions and stories.
What began as a curiosity soon became a passion for traditional craftsmanship. Learning silversmithing and filigree taught me patience, precision and the value of creating something entirely by hand.
Today, every piece I make reflects that journey. Whether I'm crafting a bespoke commission, preserving a fingerprint, teaching a workshop or creating a traditional filigree design, my goal is always the same: to create jewellery that means something to the person who wears it.
For me, the greatest reward is knowing that something created at my workbench may become part of someone else's story for generations to come.
Why Choose Jos Atelier for Handmade Jewellery in Malta?
- Handcrafted and Unique: Every piece is made by hand, ensuring you receive one-of-a-kind jewellery.
- Memorial Jewellery: I specialize in custom memorial inlay pieces, perfect for preserving cherished memories.
- Maltese Filigree: My jewellery features genuine, handcrafted Maltese filigree for an authentic touch.
- Eco-Friendly Materials: I use recycled silver as my main metal to work with. however I still take some time to craft pieces in stainless steel, and polymer clay! Packaging is fully eco-friendly and certified as I wish to leave a cleaner footprint.
- Affordable Luxury: My creations are accessible, and prices vary according to stones, material and working technique used. I do not inflate prices all year round and then give a discount at certain points, because I find this pointless, with bespoke items and therefore the prices reflect the nature of the product, the time dedicated to craft it, the stones. Nothing is bought for resell, hence making sure that the items are genuinely produced, locally, and all fine and precious metals are properly hallmarked and certified.
